1. Bowers Farm Winter Park

Every year from around January 6 to February 26, loads of outdoor winter fun happens at Bowers Farm Winter Park at 1219 East Square Lake Road in Bloomfield Township, a short ten-mile drive from Southfield.

Winter revelers from near and far flock to the farm from Wednesday to Sunday between 4 p.m. and 10 p.m. to sled and snow tube down the giant hill and skate outdoors on the farm's scenic pond. Afterward, everyone warms up around cozy fires in the farm kitchen, eating pizza and s'mores and drinking cups of piping hot cocoa.

2. Winter Blast Royal Oak

Take a five-mile drive to Royal Oak on the first weekend in February to join the fun and excitement at the annual Winter Blast Royal Oak, which happens every year in and around Centennial Commons and the Royal Oak City Center. There is much to do and see, from ice skating, snow sliding, and zip lining to snowboarding, ski lessons, and loads of free, family-friendly activities.

Winter Blast Royal Oak is admission free and takes place on February 3th from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m., February 4 between 11 a.m. and 11 p.m., and February 5 between 11 a.m. and 8 p.m.

3. A Stroll With Your Sweetheart

Now for something completely different. On Tuesday, February 14, celebrate Valentine's Day by driving your loved one to Farmington Hills, 8.5 miles away, to Stroll With Your Sweetheart between 7 and 8 p.m. through Heritage park at 24725 Farmington Road.

Experience the magic of winter on this romantic candle-lit walk down the 211-acre park's scenic trails that wind through beautiful areas, and have a steaming cup of coffee or hot chocolate and sweet treats at the Nature Center.
